PRINCIPAL'S SUMMER MESSAGE
Dear Parents, Staff, and Students: As we wind down the 2009-10 school year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for an excellent first year. This year has flown by so fast! I hope you had the opportunity to be involved in your child’s education this year. If not, we always have next year waiting for you! As we reflect on our first year, we will take the summer months to review “best practices” and come back refreshed and ready for the 2010-11 school year. However, as you are aware, many of our teachers will not be returning. It is with deep sorrow that I write this. I would like to thank them for all of their hard work and dedication in our inaugural year. Words do not express how we feel about this current situation but only hope all the very best to them as they begin new journeys in the teaching profession. I know everyone will miss them tremendously. We hope we can still keep them! We wish them all well! I would like to thank Debbie Carbone and Gina Veazy for taking on the President roles for both the PTA and Comet Fund Boards. They have worked tirelessly for our school and we cannot thank you enough. I would also like to thank all of the Board members in both organizations for their hard work and their dedication to our school. You are definitely appreciated by the staff and myself. I could take up pages and pages thanking our parent volunteers. I would like to thank all of the parents who are our unsung heroes of our school everyday. They volunteer daily in every capacity. From serving as noon time aides to working with students in small groups, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You Rock! As stated earlier, we will be examining and reviewing all of the school policies and procedures over the summer to ensure a successful school year for your child. We will be meeting with different groups over the summer to ensure that your child has a fantastic 2010-11 school year. Please remember lots of learning is lost during the summer months! Please take the time to read and write with your child on a daily basis. Summer vacation journals, postcards, and personal journals can assist your child in the writing process and daily summer reading of literature will advance your child in the reading curriculum. Many of our local libraries can assist you in appropriate Summer Reading Lists for your child. It is important to work with your child at least 20 minutes a day during the summer months. However, it is up to you! Are you ready for the challenge? Also, as a reflector practitioner, there were many things that I worked on throughout the year and others that need restructuring at our school. As I look back on our first year, there is room for improvement in many aspects of this position. Please be patient and understand that there are many facets in running a school. However, the one concern that I feel strongly about is the children. I am here for the best interest of our students and knowing that they are smiling everyday gives me piece of mind that we are all heading in the right direction. Have a wonderful summer and see you in August! GO COMETS! Paul B. Foucart
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE 2010-11 SCHOOL YEARPacket Pickup dates as well Walk-Thru Registration dates and times are posted on our School Calendar here on the left of this page, in August.. You can also download and print a copy of the 2010-2011 Instructional Calendar on this page, in the right hand column, under Quick Links. As you plan your summer vacation, be aware that school begins on Monday, August 23, 2010. Because our district is growing, schools are very full and many continue to have wait lists. As in the past, if your child does not attend the first three days of school, your student will be dropped from the school on Thursday, August 26th. In that event, you will need to re-enroll your student. A space at your resident school will not be held for your child. If there is not space at your resident school when you return, your child will be placed at the closest school based on space availability. |
